40 Days of Prayer! Day 35

Confess to God and Abandon Sin!

Written By Maranda Kelley

Sometimes, holding on to sin is the very thing delaying the answers to our prayers. It is not always easy, but we must be honest with ourselves and admit when we are wrong. The Bible reminds us, "we all have sinned," which means none of us are exempt, no matter how good we think we are. Even when we try our best to do what is right, we still need God’s help. This truth alone shows why prayer is so important. There are things we are asking God to do in our lives and in the world, but there are also things He is waiting on us to do first. He is ready, but He is waiting on you and me to take that step.

2 Chronicles 7:14

"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

The life-changing step we need to take is right here in His Word. First, we need to humble ourselves and admit that we cannot do this on our own. Let’s face it—we are not superheroes. But the good news is, God is. He is our strength. Second, we need to pray. Spend time with Him every day, seeking His face and asking for His wisdom to guide us. Then, we have to make the hard but necessary choice to let go of the sin in our lives and turn away from it completely. When we do this, God promises to heal the land around us and answer our prayers. It all starts with us taking that first step. Are you ready? Today let's take the necessary steps to obey His word and witness things changing around us for the better.

God bless you!
